Advice on how to keep your hearing aid working longer

Hearing aids tend to run on battery power. The battery life varies with the type of hearing aid being used and the hours that it is in use.  Some helpful tips to keep your hearing aid working for longer:
  • Turn the hearing aid off overnight or when not in use, making sure the battery door is fully open or that the hearing aid or battery has been placed appropriately in the charger;
  • Store your hearing aid in a dry kit container overnight;
  • Carry spare batteries with you;
  • Once the battery is removed from the packet or a sticker is taken off, the battery must be used immediately as it will lose its usual shelf life. If you do not intend to use a battery straight away, do not take it out of the packet;
  • Store the batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

If you are in need of batteries for your hearing aid, contact the Courtenay Hearing Centre on (04) 385 9144.

The well equipped Courtenay Hearing Centre can also supply you with the rest of the invaluable accessories needed for the maintenance of your assistive listening devices, such as:
